Sierra Leone : Representation and Perception of Disability by Senior Public Officials and Local Authorities

AGBOVI Komlan Kwassi, February 2010, Handicap International

This qualitative study is based on interviews with several public administration executives in Sierra Leone. It brings thus a better knowledge and understanding of the perceptions and negative representations of society towards People With Disabilities.
A better understanding of sociological barriers to the inclusion of PWDs and a concrete illustration of discriminatory and exclusion situations they live daily in Sierra Leone will give some keys to fight against these discriminations efficiently.
